What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions to discuss the Christian faith in an informal, fun and friendly environment. Alpha consists of eight sessions, looking at topics including 'What on earth am I here for?', 'Who am I?' and 'Who is Jesus?'  with the option of a day away.

Who is it for?

Alpha is for everyone; no question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity and everyone is welcome.

How does it work?

Alpha at St James will run for eight weeks, with an ‘Away day’ towards the end.

Each session will include drinks, a hot meal, a short talk and a discussion at the end where you can share your thoughts. At any point, if you think Alpha isn’t for you, that’s not a problem.

How much is it?

There is no charge to do Alpha.  You’re free to come to as much or as little of the course as you wish.

Alpha will be starting on the 2nd October on wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:15am in the Church Centre. Please click on the map to the right to find out more information on how to get there.
